By B. Merrill
I purchased the 144 x 144 model earlier this year and have been extremely satisfied with the purchase.
Here is what I love about the Kelty Noah's Tarp:
It's lightweight. The amount of shelter you get for the amount of weight you carry is fantastic.
It's extremely versatile. There are a lot of ways to set this tarp up so it meets a lot of needs when camping. I've used it to shelter extra gear and firewood (using trekking poles to set it up) as well as tying it to a tree to shelter my hammock. (see the pictures above)
It's waterproof and durable. I've had it set up in wind and rain and it performs flawlessly.
It's quick to set up. Just a few minutes and you have shelter.
A couple of tips:
This doesn't include poles. It says this in the item description, but some people evidently haven't read that. I use trekking poles to set it up when trees aren't available and they have worked great (and significantly less expensive as well). If you do end up buying the Kelty poles the stuff stack the tarp comes in is big enough to hold the poles as well.
Make sure you set it up at home to practice. It's a lot easier to figure it out how to set this up in your yard than in the middle of the woods while it's raining. Also, make sure you're familiar with how to use the included Figure 9 guy line adjusters before you get to the woods. They're great and extremely useful but they're also pretty easy to set up wrong which can lead to bits of unpleasantness in the wind and the rain.
I've been extremely happy with my purchase. I originally ordered this as supplemental shelter, in addition to my tent, to be used to eat under and store gear in bad weather. It turns out that this has effectively replaced my tent. There is a lot of room and it is so much lighter. The last couple of times I've gone out I ended up leaving the tent at home thanks to this tarp.

By J. Byers
Great tarp with great tie down system of anchor points and the Nite Ize Figure 9 guyline adjuster is primo!
So anyone who catches the reference to the old "Crocodile Dundee" movie in my subject will realize what I am saying is, this is one big tarp. You may not be as dimensionally challenged as I am and understand just how bit a 16X16 foot tarp is. Me not so much. When I bought it and the smaller one was the same price, why not go with the bigger one.
Well that said, I LOVE this tarp. It was intended to be a small tarp above the entrance to my tent at Scout Camp, and it turned out to be the covering area for our entire site. This is a sturdy well assembled tarp. With all the anchor points it was really easy to set the ridge line and raise the sides with poles. Then as the weather turned nasty, we simply removed the poles, cinched up the lines and lowered the sides. It held well with no issues.
I will be purchasing at least one more in the small variety, If not one of each in the two reaming sizes.
I spent a lot of time trying to find a tarp that would meet my needs, It was a toss up between this one and another similar one. I am glad I went with this lighter fabric one. It did a good job deflecting the Sun in the 110°f heat index we had for multiple days and kept us nice and dry when the rain finally came.
The tie downs that came with it work great, Being at Boy Scout camp, it was important to actually tie the Taught line hitch that the tie downs replace though. But for those that are challenged by the right know, this will greatly increase the ease of setup for you.
The only thing I added was a 50' para-cord that I won't cut, I use this as my Ridge Line, and some ultra reflective and bright guy lines as I wanted a little more viability (though this still did not keep the boys form tripping on them ;) but hey, their 10).
Bottom line, if you in fact need a huge tarp, this is perfect for you. Otherwise the same tarp in the smaller size will still be a great choice.

By G. Wilkes
Bought the 16' and absolutely love it. I've had it about a month and have used it for shade for a group of 8 on a 50 mile canoe trip, and slept 7 scouts and 2 leaders under it in a major storm in the Sierras . Works great with the adjustable poles but also with tie outs alone or with sticks. Awesome when you considered the weight is less than most backpacking tents. Recommend this to anyone who heads outdoors.
